Section III: Single Designs (cont.) The Bradford Table Carpet is 13' long and 5' 9" inches wide. It is linen canvas worked with 23 colors of silk in tent stitch at 400 stitches to the square inch (20 ct. canvas), and is believed to have been made by professionals rather than by the household. The border is 17" deep and consists of various country scenes. King & Levey say the piece was made in the early 17th century (and that it is probably from London), but Wardle says the piece is late 16th century. Victoria and Albert Museum, London. A.
